Bond Election

On Tuesday, February 11, 2025 the Terrell ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to call a bond election to provide more academic options for students as the district continues to grow. If approved, this bond would directly impact every student and campus in Terrell ISD while also strengthening safety and security across the district.

The Board’s approval of the proposed $273,420,000 package is based on the recommendations presented by the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee. The committee was comprised of students, staff, parents, business owners, and faith and community leaders. They spent months closely examining Terrell ISD’s current and future needs. The projects proposed by the committee directly reflect their findings.

If approved by voters, this proposal would fund capital improvements and renovations at Terrell High School, Furlough Middle School, Burnett Early Childhood Center, Gilbert Willie, Sr., J.W. Long, and Dr. Bruce Wood Elementary schools as well as the Global Leadership Academy. The proposal would also allow for expansions and more course options in the highly sought-after CTE and Agriculture programs at Terrell High School. Some students at THS interested in those courses are on a waitlist because of a lack of space. The Fine Arts areas at THS would also receive an upgrade, allowing more space for the rising number of students interested in those courses. The proposal also calls for the construction of Terrell’s fourth elementary school and the purchase of land for middle school number two.

This proposal strongly focuses on enhancing safety and security across Terrell ISD with upgrades that will benefit every student. Key projects include an update to TISD’s camera systems and fire protection systems, an update to intruder alert systems, and providing more secure entrances at specific campuses. The projects in this bond can be funded with no more than a 10-cent increase to Terrell ISD’s current tax rate - a rate below that of comparable districts in our area.

The Terrell ISD bond proposal will appear on the ballot for voter approval this May.

Early voting for the Terrell ISD 2025 bond elections begins on Tuesday, April 22 and Election Day is Saturday, May 3, 2025. For more information on the 2025 bond election, visit terrellisd.org/bond2025
