Some new and familiar faces will step into school leadership roles at the start of the 2023-2024 school year. Terrell ISD is pleased to announce the appointment of Earl S. Gilmore as the principal of Terrell High School, Alexis Dennis as principal of Furlough Middle School and Angela Abrams-Malone as principal of Gilbert Willie, Sr. Elementary School.
Mr. Earl Gilmore brings 24 years of educational experience to the district. He began his career as a teacher in Jackson, Mississippi and has served as a counselor, curriculum instructor, behavior interventionist, assistant principal and principal. Gilmore comes from South Garland High School where he has served as principal since 2019. Throughout his career, he has served in Garland, Irving, Dallas and Arlington ISD. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work/Psychology and a Master of Education degree in School Counseling from Mississippi College.
Gilmore replaces Dr. Adam Toy, who has been named the Director of Student Services for Terrell ISD.
“I am completely filled with excitement to be named the proud principal of Terrell High School,” shared Gilmore. “The success of Terrell High School and the Terrell community is both my passion and calling. I am confident that by working together with staff and community every Terrell High School student will receive the best-rounded education in order to reach their highest potential and that they will become lifelong learners and productive members of their community. I am excited to make monumental history in Tiger Nation!”
Ms. Angela Abrams-Malone is returning home to Terrell ISD after having served as principal at
Claybon Elementary in Forney ISD. Malone began her career in 1995 as a fourth-grade teacher in Terrell ISD. Throughout her career in both Forney and Terrell ISD, she has served as a team lead, elementary instructional facilitator, Student Achievement Coordinator, Dean of Students and Assistant Principal. Malone holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from California State University and a Master of Education degree from Texas A&M-Commerce.
Malone replaces Ms. Alexis Dennis who has been named the principal of Furlough Middle School.
“I am honored to be selected as the next principal of Gilbert Willie Elementary School,” shared Malone. “This campus has a lot of great things established by the previous administration, and I'm excited to work with the campus and build on those foundations. I look forward to serving the students, staff, and families of this wonderful school. It feels great to be coming home.”
Ms. Alexis Dennis began her career as a middle school science teacher in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. Throughout her 16 year career, she has served as an instructional facilitator, assistant principal and principal. She currently serves as the principal of Gilbert Willie Sr. Elementary. Dennis holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of North Texas and a Master of Education from Texas Woman’s University.
Dennis replaces Dr. Chris Turner who has been named the principal at the Child and Adolescent School.

I truly believe that every student can learn, achieve, and succeed with the support of educators, parents, and the community.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Gilmore and Ms. Abrams-Malone to the Terrell ISD team,” said Dr. Georgeanne Warnock, Terrell ISD Superintendent. “Each of these individuals possess the powerful vision that when we expect more, we can achieve more. I have the utmost confidence that they will continue the great work happening at our campuses.”
